Take that Amazon!

From BoingBoing.net

This was the scene after a used book supplier for amazon.co.uk lost its lease. After realizing that no one was bailing them out, the organization said $#@! it and opened its doors for book lovers, looters, and the one guy in England who has perfect teeth. This is exactly why Amazon is competitive with actual bookstores...They don't have to pay anyone to clean up a mess like that!

In case you were wondering, that is exactly what a Barnes & Noble or a Borders looks like at the end of the night after all the customers have come and gone.

So please don't leave your books underneath the leather chair in the corner. We will find you.

  2. You know, I really wouldn't mind seeing what books the guy with perfect teeth picked out. Probably nothing about dental hygiene, but who knows. I've had good luck buying books through sellers on Amazon, and I'm glad you brought this incident to the forefront of your blog. I've always wondered what happened to all the books at Borders after the doors close for the night. Even though there is no cleanup, does Amazon really have the capability to wipe out bookstores as we know it?

  3. That is exactly the reason I hated working retail. Most people never think about the person who has to clean up the mess they leave behind. After working in retail, I'm always conscientious about the people who work in stores I shop in and make sure to leave things as close to the way I found them as possible. By the way, I enjoyed listening to the podcast of your show from last week.
